Mabel feat. Shygirl "Look At My Body Pt. II"

Buck collaborated with director David Wilson on this music video. I got to work as a lead cel animator and story boarder. Buck’s vision was to depict mighty Mother Nature celebrating her anatomy without objectifying it — challenging the male gaze and historic sexual objectification of women. The result is a “2D-animated sequence that combines feminist values with classic craft — a psychedelic romp showcasing the power of womanhood in a sequence that is fluid, dynamic, and filled with BUCK flair”.

From storyboarding and ideation to animatics and then animating scenes. I worked from start to finish on this one with an amazing team of incredibly talented individuals. It was a tough project with lots of curve balls but we managed to get a really tight 22 seconds of carefully crafted animation.

Tie Down

I animated the fire and milk for the Mabel poster above.

An old board. We ended up using the middle section of the tree scene that then linked to the insemination.

Another board. We did keep the insemination and the flower tunnel scene at the end but the cel reproduction moment in the middle sadly got cut.

I made this sketch to explain to the animators how the camera would move down the tunnel as the tube would snap.
